creates participatory interventions that blur the line between the graphic and architectural, the speculative and built, the gauche and spectacular. We challenge notions of omniscient architectural mastery and are instead preoccupied with architecture’s range of immediate emotive capacities. Current interests include: primitive huts, recycling and assemblage, iconography, aggregated composites, movement, nooks, and fuzziness. Nice One Projects (R. Kataki, A. Song, E. Wang) are based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Putt & Peal, 2017
Bells are an essential part of the New York City soundscape. Their sonorous presence atop church spires both disrupts and regulates our days, reminding us to take pause and reflect. We make reference to these bells by proposing a landscape of 65 hand-made ceramic bells that will be mounted on a soft and vibrant topographic landscape. Minigolfers will putt their golf balls across a landscape of undulating colors and clusters of ceramic flora that will chime when bounced against, producing an impromptu music for Governor’s Island.
